Hi Everyone
Hope you have had a great week. If you have had a rubbish one, we are here for you, just try for 1% better than yesterday in something!
I know I am guilty of waiting for motivation for everything and I know I am waiting for something that is not going to come. This is a problem for me and I struggle when my teaching work takes over.
Teaching is one of those professions where it does not stop. I am constantly thinking about what I am doing with work and what I can be doing or on my to do list, whether I like it or not. I have been lately trying to control the time I spend on my main job as it can take over too much. The main issue is then focusing on other projects and having the motivation to switch rather than just procrastinate.
I am a thinker, visionary. I need to push myself to do the ground work. I am great at seeing potential, generating ideas and seeing the possibilities and big picture. What I am working on is doing the ground work to achieve it.
This week, money and budgeting has been a focus for me. My pay is now all automated to go into different pots so I cover all the necessary areas of my financial life. This has meant that only my spending money for the month is in one account and I have never seen that account so low…
Since moving out, my savings rate has dropped from 65% to 15%. I am really struggling to accept this and to really monitor my spending. I am at the point where I can only save so much with what I am earning already. My only other option is to increase my income.
Increasing income through other sources and career maximization is my strategy. I watched a clip with Brian Tracy on Youtube where he encouraged people to write a question to themselves on how to double your income within 12 months. Then you have to write down 20 answers and make sure that you keep going until you have all 20 answers.
I followed through with this and I found it easier than I thought and I could still think of more ideas. My priority now is to actually follow though and try them, treating them as experiments.
Effective action and applying everything that I have learned so far is what is needed to make real progress. I like learning and I like facts, applying these is where I struggle sometimes. Some people can be the opposite and I find that fascinating. I know people from my life that are making money outside from their day job and I know that I am more educated and smarter than them in multiple fields but I’m the one not making money.
That is what must change. Go from being an inactive learner to an applying active learner. If I think about it, it is how I started my teaching career. I worked alongside studying to apply what I learnt in practice. The only way I get better at teaching is to try new things and learn along the way.
That is the work ethic I want to put into my priority of making more money. The thought of earning double my current income, is incredible. It could do so much for my life. I am sure that many of you reading this will understand and have your own opinions.
Effective action = progress = Motivation = Success
Lets try and have a great week and improve 1% everyday.
