Hi Everyone
Hope you have had a great week. If you have had a rubbish one, we are here for you, just try for 1% better than yesterday in something!
This week I have been reading ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ by David Schwartz. I bought this book on the recommendation of Steve Harvey from one of his speeches. I am a third of the way through the book and I can see the influence it has had on people.
This is purely focussed on the mind and mindset. I know this is an area that I struggle with a lot. I like that it constantly explains through examples and experience. It has made me realize now that words I use everyday are not building my confidence but reducing it. I am gaining more understanding with how I am talking to myself and how I should be viewing my goals and dreams as experiments and a right to achieve.
I am reading this everyday and again the same quote keeps popping up.
Action cures fear
I didn’t think I procrastinated because of fear but the more I thought about situations where I let things slide or procrastinated, put things off, I think now it was a fear. A fear of not being right or able to do it.
The more I think, the more I find that this happens with my teaching work too. I procrastinate and put things off because I fear that it will be picked up on and it will be wrong. Ironically, I don’t like wasting time having to do something again but if I haven’t done it in the first place then it’s the same problem.
I understand that to get the success that I am after, I will have to do something different and act differently. I must be able to work harder and smarter than others. The reasons for doing this change need to be stronger in my mindset.
I will be doing a full book review of ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ by David Schwartz once I have finished it.
As I am trying to keep reminding myself:
Effective action = progress = Motivation = Success
Lets try and have a great week and improve 1% everyday.
Thank you for being here.
